Pwll Primary School is appealing for votes to help it win a minibus for its autistic unit.

Shortly before the summer break the school, with the support of a thoughtful parent, applied for a grant of £25,000 for a new minibus for the pupils in the Autistic Unit, through the OneFamily Foundation and was successfully shortlisted during the holidays.

There’s no time to waste in casting a vote for the school as the deadline is next Wednesday (September 6).

Headteacher Paul Trotman said: “A good 10 years ago, staff and parents worked hard to raise a large sum of money to buy our current minibus, which is now on its very last legs/wheels.

“Quite often these days, we load up the bus with children to go on a trip, or shopping, or swimming, and the bus doesn’t start.  This would be a big enough problem with typically developing children, so you can imagine how the scene pans out with 10 children with autism who are expecting to follow a particular routine at a specific time on a particular day.

“Learning how to function in the wider community is an enormous part of our work in Pwll Autistic Unit and we desperately need a new minibus to help give our fabulous children the skills they need to live independent lives in the future.”

The council’s executive board member for education and children’s services Cllr Glynog Davies said: “I would urge people to take the time as soon as possible to vote to help Pwll CP School win the grant for a new minibus which will make so much difference for the pupils of the unit.”

Pleidleisiwch i helpu Ysgol Gynradd Pwll i ennill bws mini ar gyfer yr uned Awtistig

Mae Ysgol Ysgol Gynradd Pwll yn apelio am bleidleisiau i’w helpu i ennill bws mini ar gyfer yr Uned Awtistig.

Gyda chymorth rhiant meddylgar, cyn gwyliau’r haf, gwnaeth yr ysgol gais am grant o £25,000 ar gyfer bws mini newydd ar gyfer disgyblion yr Uned Awtistiaeth, trwy’r Sefydliad OneFamily – a gyrhaed dod y rhestr fer yn llwyddiannus yn ystod y gwyliau.

Does dim amser i’w golli i fwrw pleidlais dros yr ysgol gan fod y dyddiad cau ddydd Mercher nesaf (6 Medi).

Dywedodd Paul Trotman, pennaeth yr ysgol: “Tua 10 mlynedd yn ôl, gweithiodd staff a rhieni yn galed i godi swm mawr o arian i brynu ein bws mini presennol, sydd bellach ar ei goesau/olwynion olaf.

“Yn aml iawn y dyddiau hyn, rydym yn llwytho’r bws gyda phlant i fynd ar daith, i siopa neu nofio, ac nid yw’r bws yn dechrau. Byddai hyn yn broblem ddigon mawr gyda phlant cyffredin ond fel y gallwch ddychmygu nid yw mor hawdd gyda 10 o blant ag awtistiaeth sy’n disgwyl dilyn trefn benodol ar amser penodol ar ddiwrnod penodol.

“Mae dysgu sut i weithredu yn y gymuned ehangach yn rhan enfawr o’n gwaith yn Uned Awtistiaeth Pwll. Mae angen bws mini newydd arnom er mwyn helpu i roi i’n plant gwych y sgiliau sydd eu hangen arnynt i fyw bywydau annibynnol yn y dyfodol.”

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Glynog Davies, yr aelod o’r bwrdd gweithredol dros addysg a gwasanaethau plant: Rwy’n annog pobl i gymryd yr amser i bleidleisio dros Ysgol Pwll cyn gynted â phosib  i’w helpu i ennill grant ar gyfer bws mini newydd. Bydd yn gwneud gymaint o wahaniaeth i blant yr uned.”

I gefnogi cais Ysgol Gynradd Pwll cliciwch ar y ddolen ganlynol i bleidleisio. Efallai y bydd angen i chi gofrestru ond dim ond ychydig o funud y mae hyn yn ei gymryd.
