£20,000 contributed to an eventful year

ALMOST £20,000 has been committed by the county council to support community events this year, with everything from sheep festivals to carnivals to steam rallies getting a share of the funding pot.

Carmarthenshire County Council is supporting event organisers in a number of ways, one of which is to contribute to the cost of events and festivals that support the council’s tourism, community and economic strategic aims.

Up to the beginning of August, £13,700 had been committed, and a recent decision by the council’s executive board member for culture sport and tourism, Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, has seen a further £4,673.25 contribution.

The money is being shared out between the Gorslas Carnival, an autumn Rail and Road Steam Rally, the Llandovery Sheep Festival, Llanelli Half Marathon and Llanelli Festival of Walks.

Cllr Hughes Griffiths said: “It’s a pleasure to be able to support events that are being organised by the community, for the community. As a council, we set aside £20,000 to support events that demonstrate how they will support our strategic aims to grow tourism and the local economy.

“As well as bringing people together, events can provide a huge contribution to local communities and is therefore a key growth area for the county.”

The council also offers support via its Event Organisers Circle, which was launched earlier this year.

Already growing in numbers, the network brings together experienced event organisers and people who are hosting events for the first time.

Seminars, activities and training workshops are held several times a year, encouraging people to connect, collaborate and upskill each other.

There is also a dedicated web portal and regular email bulletins to keep organisers informed of new ideas and funding opportunities.

The Event Organisers Circle has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 (RDP), which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government. This particular project supports key priorities under the Welsh Government Strategy for Tourism 2013 – 2020 “Partnership for Growth”.

£20,000 wedi’i gyfrannu at flwyddyn yn llawn bwrlwm

MAE’R cyngor sir wedi ymrwymo bron i £20,000 i gefnogi digwyddiadau cymunedol eleni, gyda phopeth o wyliau defaid i garnifalau i ralïau injans stêm yn cael cyfran o’r gronfa.

Mae Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin yn cefnogi trefnwyr digwyddiadau mewn nifer o ffyrdd, ac un o’r rhain yw cyfrannu at gost digwyddiadau a gwyliau sy’n cefnogi nodau strategol y cyngor ar gyfer twristiaeth, y gymuned a’r economi.

Hyd at ddechrau mis Awst, roedd £13,700 wedi cael ei ymrwymo, ac mae penderfyniad diweddar gan yr aelod o fwrdd gweithredol y cyngor dros ddiwylliant, chwaraeon a thwristiaeth, y Cyng. Peter Hughes Griffiths, wedi arwain at gyfraniad pellach o £4,673.25.

Mae’r arian yn cael ei rannu rhwng Carnifal Gorslas, Rali Injans Stêm Rheilffyrdd a Ffyrdd, Gŵyl Ddefaid Llanymddyfri, Hanner Marathon Llanelli a Gŵyl Gerdded Llanelli. Meddai’r Cyng. Hughes Griffiths: “Mae’n bleser gallu cefnogi digwyddiadau sy’n cael eu trefnu gan y gymuned, ar gyfer y gymuned. Fel cyngor, fe neilltuon ni £20,000 i gefnogi digwyddiadau sy’n dangos sut y byddant yn cefnogi ein nodau strategol i dyfu twristiaeth a’r economi leol.

“Yn ogystal â dod â phobl ynghyd, gall digwyddiadau wneud cyfraniad enfawr i gymunedau lleol ac mae felly’n faes twf allweddol o’r Sir.”

Mae’r Cyngor hefyd yn cynnig cymorth trwy ei Gylch Trefnwyr Digwyddiadau, a lansiwyd yn gynharach eleni.

Mae’r rhwydwaith, sydd eisoes yn tyfu mewn niferoedd, yn dod â threfnwyr digwyddiadau profiadol a phobl sy’n cynnal digwyddiadau am y tro cyntaf ynghyd.

Cynhelir seminarau, gweithgareddau a gweithdai hyfforddi sawl gwaith y flwyddyn, gan annog pobl i gysylltu, cydweithio ac uwchsgilio’i gilydd.

Ceir porth gwe wedi’i neilltuo hefyd a bwletinau rheolaidd trwy’r e-bost i hysbysu trefnwyr ynghylch syniadau a chyfleoedd cyllido newydd.

Mae’r Cylch Trefnwyr Digwyddiadau wedi cael cyllid trwy Cymunedau Gwledig Llywodraeth Cymru – Rhaglen Datblygu Gwledig 2014-2020, a ariennir gan Gronfa Amaethyddiaeth Ewrop ar gyfer Datblygu Gwledig a Llywodraeth Cymru. Mae’r prosiect penodol hwn yn cefnogi blaenoriaethau allweddol dan Strategaeth Llywodraeth Cymru ar gyfer Twristiaeth 2013 – 2020 “Partneriaeth ar gyfer Twf”.
