* Trainline launches mobile tickets across the Arriva Trains Wales
network
* Chance to benefit from 20% off sale on Advance Single ticket
bookings across the network
* For the first time, Welsh passengers can use a mobile phone to
travel throughout the country, as well as to the North of England and
the Midlands
LONDON, ENGLAND, UK – 14 SEPTEMBER 2017 – With a host of cultural
activities set to take place in Wales this month, Trainline [1] has
you covered with the roll out of mobile tickets across the entire
Arriva Trains Wales (ATW) network. And, if that’s not enough good
news, passengers can also benefit from 20% off all Advance Single
ticket fares on ATW, when booked between 17th – 23rd September for
travel between 18th September – 29th October.*
Mobile tickets can be scanned or validated directly from your
smartphone (goodbye orange paper train tickets!). Both Advance and
on-the-day tickets are now available across the network via the
Trainline App, so whether you’re planning to head into Cardiff for a
spot of shopping or take in the action at Ironman Wales in
Pembrokeshire, you can book your tickets safe in the knowledge that
you’ll be beating the station queues.
Trainline research** reveals that those who book tickets online allow
an additional 10 minutes at the station to collect. With mobile
tickets, that’s 10 minutes of time back as you can head straight for
the train with your phone.
What’s more, because Trainline has the broadest coverage of mobile
tickets in the UK***, travellers in Wales can now be connected to
destinations throughout the North of England and the Midlands too, all
by mobile ticket, helping to make train travel in and out of Wales
even more seamless.
Mobile tickets eliminate the queuing time required to buy or collect
tickets at the station and prevent a wad of tickets filling up your
wallet (and the fear of losing them!). In addition, your mobile ticket
is ‘live’ in the Trainline App, so you can receive real time
travel updates and platform information, as well as handy tools like
BusyBot to help you find an empty seat on your train.

JOHN DAVIES, RETAIL DIRECTOR AT TRAINLINE SAID: “We’ve been
working closely with train operators to offer mobile tickets to our
customers, and they are growing in popularity, with half of all
tickets sold on our App now a mobile ticket. *****
“Bringing mobile tickets to the Arriva Trains Wales network and
being able to connect Wales to our other mobile ticket enabled regions
across the UK is brilliant for travellers who want to explore with
their phone as their ticket, and a real milestone in our journey to
help the industry meet the government’s target of 100% UK mobile
ticket availability by the end of 2018.”
