Eco-Explore Community Interest Company, a Caerphilly not-for-profit
organisation, has been selected to receive 1,000 after applying for
funding from organic skin and haircare brand Green People.

In celebration of its 20th year of driving positive change in the
beauty world, Green People launched a national campaign – ‘Change the
World in 20 Ways’ – where individuals and groups across the UK were
invited to apply for 1,000 to put towards projects to make a
difference in their local communities.

Eco-Explore Community Interest Company has recently undertaken the
Eco-Explore Education project – delivering science communication and
environmental engagement events for community groups, charities and
schools.

Sarah Morgan, Educational Outreach Officer at Eco-Explore Community
Interest Company, commented:

“We’re thrilled to have been selected as the recipients of 1,000 and
have great plans to take our project even further. We’ve developed an
innovative strategy for engaging with the general public about science
and the environment, inspiring them to take an active role in caring
for the natural world. We plan to launch a new social media campaign –
#HeroesForNature, which will promote environmental stewardship and
nature appreciation – and we want to create nature explorer backpacks
to give away as prizes and resources for use with community and school
groups.”

Green People is supported by renowned anatomist, author and
broadcaster, and official science communication advisor and brand
ambassador, Professor Alice Roberts.

Commenting on the campaign, Alice said:

“Green People’s ‘Change the World in 20 Ways’ campaign has
highlighted groups and individuals who are working hard to make a
positive difference in the world.”

“The projects that have won funds are so diverse – some focused on
health and disability, others on building community cohesion, or
promoting nature education, but they all have something important in
common – they’re led by motivated and inspirational people who care
deeply about others, and the environment.”
