Get your priorities right. Flexible working most important to Welsh employees, compared to rest of UK

Juggling your personal and professional lives can be tricky no matter
your age, but new research from recruitment firm PageGroup [1] claims
employees in Wales have got their work-life priorities right.

 

In a UK-wide study of 1,000 office workers, WELSH WORKERS PLACED THE
MOST IMPORTANCE ON FLEXIBLE WORKING – with 3 IN 4 (76%) CITING IT AS
IMPORTANT TO THEM today, and 87% claiming it will be even more so in
the next five years (the highest figures in the UK).

 

Additional key findings for Wales include:

–          69% expect to be offered flexible working as
standard in any job they do

–          Yet… only 28% work from home at least once a
week

–          77% of those that don’t work from home, say
they are not able/not allowed to

–          46% have felt judged or penalized for working
flexibly

–          2 in 10 (22%) have been actively refused flexible
working

–          1 in 2 believe flexible working is reserved for
senior employees or those with families (51%)

 

Wales aside, the study – which set out to shed light on the reality
of flexible working across the UK – reveals the DISAPPOINTINGLY LOW
BAR SET FOR NATIONWIDE FLEXIBLE WORKING STANDARDS, in an age where the
expectation of flexibility is the new normal.
