Association of Directors of Education in Wales (ADEW)

The Association of Directors of Education in Wales (ADEW) has recently elected new lead officers in Aled Evans (Chair, Director of Education Lifelong Learning, Neath Port Talbot), Lynette Jones (Vice-Chair, Director of Education, Blaenau Gwent) and Nick Batchelar (Vice-Chair, Director Education and Lifelong Learning, City of Cardiff). Their leadership will seek to place ADEW at the very centre of educational policy development and implementation in Wales.
The Association, representing officers accountable for statutory education functions in each of the local authorities, remains committed to its partnership with Welsh Government to shape the strategic development and delivery of educational reform, whilst maintaining a clear focus on accountability and challenge.
Aled Evans, the new Chair of ADEW, said, “I am confident that we have the capacity and capability to place local authorities at the forefront of educational policy implementation and to generate innovative and creative solutions to any challenges we face.
We have already initiated a cycle of peer reviews that will allow us to quickly share practice, progress improvement and support each other’s development in a dynamic way. As commissioners of services, we will actively engage with the Welsh Government on the review of the National Model for Regional Working and continue to ensure the development and effectiveness of regional consortia in their delivery of school improvement services.
We will continue to collaborate regionally to establish coherent, effective and efficient delivery of educational services that meet the needs of all children, young people and their families.”
ADEW’s vision is to act and, through action, change things for the better. Whilst the role of education as a universal service continues to change, it remains core to meeting the needs and enriching the lives of all families and children, including the vulnerable.
ADEW will continue to provide a coherent, co-ordinated and strategic contribution to the development of education, learning, childcare and multi-agency initiatives that impact positively on the lives of children, young people and their families. Through effective leadership, the Association will co-construct and implement reform in order to produce an ambitious, confident, creative, enterprising, capable and caring Wales.

Yn ddiweddar, mae Cymdeithas Cyfarwyddwyr Addysg Cymru (CCAC) wedi ethol swyddogion arweiniol newydd, sef Aled Evans (Cadeirydd, Cyfarwyddwyr Addysg a Dysgu Gydol Oes Castell-nedd Port Talbot), Lynette Jones (Is-gadeirydd, Cyfarwyddwr Addysg Blaenau Gwent) a Nick Batchelar (Is-gadeirydd, Cyfarwyddwr Addysg a Dysgu Gydol Oes Dinas Caerdydd). Bydd eu harweinyddiaeth yn ceisio rhoi CCAC wrth wraidd y broses o ddatblygu a gweithredu polisïau addysgol yng Nghymru.
Mae’r gymdeithas yn cynrychioli swyddogion sy’n atebol am swyddogaethau addysgol statudol ym mhob un o’r awdurdodau lleol ac yn parhau i fod yn ymrwymedig i’w phartneriaeth â Llywodraeth Cymru i lywio’r broses o ddatblygu a chyflwyno diwygiadau addysgol yn strategol, gan gynnal ffocws clir ar atebolrwydd a her.
Meddai Aled Evans, cadeirydd newydd CCAC, “Rwy’n hyderus bod gennym y gallu i roi awdurdodau lleol wrth wraidd gweithredu polisïau addysgol a chreu atebion blaengar a chreadigol i unrhyw heriau rydym yn eu hwynebu.
Rydym eisoes wedi cychwyn cyfres o adolygiadau cymheiriaid a fydd yn ein galluogi i rannu arfer yn gyflym, sicrhau gwelliant a chefnogi datblygiad ein gilydd mewn ffordd ddeinamig. Fel y rhai sy’n comisiynu gwasanaethau, byddwn yn mynd ati i adolygu’r Model Cenedlaethol ar gyfer Gweithio Rhanbarthol â Llywodraeth Cymru ac yn parhau i sicrhau datblygiad ac effeithiolrwydd consortia rhanbarthol wrth iddynt gyflwyno gwasanaethau gwella ysgolion.
Byddwn yn parhau i gydweithredu’n rhanbarthol i gyflwyno gwasanaethau addysgol sy’n diwallu anghenion yr holl blant, pobl ifanc a’u teuluoedd mewn modd cydlynol, effeithiol ac effeithlon.”
Gweledigaeth CCAC yw gweithredu, a thrwy weithredu, newid pethau er gwell. Er bod rôl addysg fel gwasanaeth cyffredinol yn parhau i newid, mae’n dal i fod wrth wraidd diwallu anghenion a chyfoethogi bywydau’r holl deuluoedd a phlant, gan gynnwys y diamddiffyn.
Bydd CCAC yn parhau i wneud cyfraniad cyson, cydlynol a strategol at ddatblygu addysg, dysgu, gofal plant a mentrau amlasiantaeth sy’n effeithio’n gadarnhaol ar fywydau plant, pobl ifanc a’u teuluoedd. Drwy arweinyddiaeth effeithiol, bydd y gymdeithas yn cydweithio i lunio diwygiadau a’u rhoi ar waith er mwyn creu Cymru sy’n uchelgeisiol, yn hyderus, yn greadigol, yn fentrus, yn alluog ac yn ofalgar.
