Mental health transformation project picks up national award / Mae prosiect trawsnewid iechyd meddwl yn gipio gwobr genedlaethol

Hywel Dda University Health Board is celebrating today (Friday 22 September 2017) after winning an NHS Wales Award at the tenth anniversary of the awards.

A project on “Working Hand in Hand to Transform Mental Health“ – won the Citizens At The Centre Of Service Re-Design And Delivery award, supported by Wales Council for Voluntary Action.

Steve Moore, Chief Executive for Hywel Dda University Health Board said: “This prestigious award recognises the commitment, forward-thinking and collaborative approach shown by our staff, service users, partners and the public in improving our mental health services for the future.

“By working together with our local communities and those who use our services, we can truly transform these services for the better across our region. 

“I’m so proud to be part of an organisation which is leading the way in this work. Congratulations to everyone involved in this award-winning project and, on behalf of the Board, thank you for your continued hard work, determination and passion.”

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport, Vaughan Gething, who attended the ceremony, said, “The NHS Wales Awards are a national showcase for excellence and celebrate best practice in improving patient care across Wales. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other and recognise the inspiring innovation of our NHS staff.  

 “Every finalist should be proud to be shortlisted for an award. It’s encouraging to see such passion and dedication to improving services provided across Wales”.  

The NHS Wales Awards are organised by 1000 Lives Improvement, the national improvement service for NHS Wales delivered by Public Health Wales. The Awards were launched in 2008 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the NHS and recognise and promote good practice across Wales.

Entries were received from a range of organisations, revealing a high standard of innovative and diverse work that is transforming patient care across Wales.

Mae Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda yn dathlu heddiw (dydd Gwener 22 Medi 2017) ar Ă´l ennill un o Wobrau GIG Cymru, sy’n dathlu eu dengmlwyddiant eleni. 

Daeth y prosiect “Gweithio Law yn Llaw i Drawsnewid Iechyd Meddwl” i’r brig yn y categori Dinasyddion Wrth Wraidd Ailgynllunio a Darparu Gwasanaethau a noddwyd gan Gyngor Gweithredu Gwirfoddol Cymru.

Dywedodd Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Iechyd, Llesiant a Chwaraeon, Vaughan Gething, a fynychodd y seremoni, “Mae Gwobrau GIG Cymru yn llwyfan cenedlaethol i arddangos  rhagoriaeth a dathlu arferion gorau o ran gwella gofal cleifion ledled Cymru. Mae’n gyfle gwych i ddysgu oddi wrth ein gilydd a chydnabod arloesedd ysbrydoledig staff y GIG.  

“Dylai pawb yn y rownd derfynol ymfalchĂŻo yn y ffaith eu bod wedi cyrraedd y rhestr fer ar gyfer gwobr. Mae’n galonogol gweld cymaint o angerdd ac ymroddiad i wella gwasanaethau a ddarperir ledled Cymru”.  

Mae Gwobrau GIG Cymru yn cael eu trefnu gan 1000 o Fywydau – Gwasanaeth Gwella, y gwasanaeth gwella cenedlaethol sy’n cael ei ddarparu gan Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru. Lansiwyd y Gwobrau yn 2008 i ddathlu 60 mlynedd ers sefydlu’r GIG ac i gydnabod a hyrwyddo arferion gorau ledled Cymru.

Cafwyd ceisiadau gan amrywiaeth sefydliadau, a oedd yn dangos gwaith arloesol ac amrywiol o safon uchel sy’n trawsnewid gofal cleifion ledled Cymru.
