Dear Editor,
Friday 6 October marks the second annual ‘Byte Night’ in Wales and 20th in the UK as a whole – Action for Children’s UK-wide fundraising ‘sleep-out’ event.
With around 1,500 other people at 11 locations across the UK, I will be giving up my bed for one night to help change the lives of young people at risk of homelessness.
Spending the night exposed to the elements is a challenge but in the morning, I will be able to go home to my family, take a shower and sleep in a comfortable bed. Sadly, there are too many vulnerable young people in Wales for whom this is simply not possible.
Family breakdown, mental health issues and abuse in the home are just a few of the causes which lead to young people becoming homeless. Action for Children has supported many young people towards a safe and happy future. Unfortunately, so many more still need our help.
Last year’s Byte Night raised over £1.2 million and this year we hope to raise even more. I’m urging your readers to help us make this possible either by making a donation or by finding out about how to take part in Byte Night at bytenight.org.uk
Thank you.
