Garden team get a makeover from Parker Plant

A GROUNDSFORCE gardening team working out of Llanelli’s Coleshill Centre have had a complete makeover themselves thanks to the generosity of the town’s Parker Plant Hire.

The group attend the Coleshill Centre for training as part of Carmarthenshire County Council’s day services for adults with additional needs.

They carry out community work extensively throughout the county involving grass cutting, weeding and planting, hedge cutting and pressure washing and are working towards a National Proficiency Test Council qualification in horticulture.

The grounds maintenance team have been kitted out with full all-weather kit including trousers, weatherproof jackets and polo shirts in a package worth more than £750.

Parker Plant Hire managing director, George Parker, said: “I have great admiration for the Coleshill Centre and the work they do. We are proud as a company to be associated and reward the grounds maintenance team with their new kit as they go about performing great work to a high standard across the county.”

The council’s development manager, Brian Hughes said: “It is a generous sponsorship package that has given a professional polish to the team who also carry out works for gardens, parks and community areas in the care of the county council. These include grounds at Pen Y  Mynydd, Pembrey;  Mynydd Mawr; Dryslwyn Castle site and at Yr Allt in Saron.”

Executive board member for social care and health, Cllr Jane Tremlett, said: “The grounds maintenance team are rightly extremely proud of their good work. There has been much positive feedback from those who have used their skills in the community too. It is wonderful to see the team being rewarded in this way by Parker Plant.”
