Neath Food and Drink Festival 2017

A feast of culinary delights will very soon be tantalising the taste buds as the Neath Food and drink festival returns for its ninth consecutive year from Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October 2017 in Neath’s historic town centre.
With over 75 food and drink stalls, a weekend of cooking demonstrations, street entertainment and workshops, the three-day festival promises to be the biggest yet, where traders will showcase the best of local and homemade produce.
Councillor Annette Wingrave, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development said: “It is great to see the festival growing and attracting more and more local businesses every year.
“Neath Food and Drink Festival is a true celebration of local produce and is a marvellous opportunity to show off our beautiful market town to the many tourists and residents that visit us over the three days”.
Neath Food and Drink Festival is the place to be for anyone who enjoys quality produce to meet artisan food producers face to face. When you speak to our exhibitors, the first thing that you will notice is their passion and knowledge, whether it is goats milk ice cream, samosa’s or sea food, long horn beef or apple juice, everything has been made by people who care passionately about the quality and process of the products they make.
As usual, there will be a number of favourite stall holders returning, such as Aerona Liqueur’s, the Chocolate Brownie Company, Bryn Farm Barbeque and a whole host of other delicious food and drink stalls.
This year’s festival will also see many new faces on the stalls, including a locally established cakes and cupcakes food stall called Frankie Loves Frills. The talented and creative owners of Frankie Loves Frills, Louise McAndrew and Sarah Mainwaring said: “We are really excited to be attending this year’s Neath Food and Drink Festival. As a small business, the Neath Festival provides us with the perfect platform to promote our cakes. It’s a great opportunity to be part of this growing event”.
The festival will also be welcoming the following local and new Welsh start-up’s, such as Seabreeze fish, Bont Brew, Eccentric Gin and The Bubbly Box, a mobile horse box bar selling prosecco and champagne.
The Neath Food and Drink Festival also includes two Street Food Zones in Angel Square and Neath Square, a Champagne Tent in the grounds of St Thomas’ Church and a Real Ale Hall in Neath Town Hall!
In addition to providing a platform for the exhibiting stallholders, the bustling festival is a great opportunity for Neath’s many established shops, restaurants and cafes to take advantage of the thousands of visitors lured by the festivities.
Melanie Jenkins owner of Mossies Ladies Fashion in New Street in Neath was new to trading in the town last year and hadn’t experienced the crowds of shoppers that the festival brought. After experiencing a busy Friday and Saturday, Melanie decided to open on the Sunday. Melanie said: “I usually don’t open on a Sunday, but I was delighted with the trade we did over the three days. Sunday proved to be one of our best ever single trading days”.

Gŵyl Bwyd a Diod Castell-nedd 2017

Bydd gwledd o ddanteithion yn bywiogi’r blasbwyntiau cyn hir wrth i Ŵyl Bwyd a Diod Castell-nedd ddychwelyd am y nawfed flwyddyn yn olynol o ddydd Gwener 29 Medi tan ddydd Sul 1 Hydref 2017 yng nghanol tref hanesyddol Castell-nedd.
Gyda thros 75 o stondinau bwyd a diod, penwythnos o arddangosiadau coginio, adloniant stryd a gweithdai, mae’r ŵyl tridiau’n addo bod y mwyaf hyd yn hyn, lle bydd masnachwyr yn arddangos y gorau o gynnyrch lleol a chartref.
Meddai’r Cynghorydd Annette Wingrave, Aelod y Cabinet dros Adfywio a Datblygu Cynaliadwy, “Mae’n wych gweld yr ŵyl yn tyfu ac yn denu mwy a mwy o fusnesau lleol bob blwyddyn.

“Mae Gŵyl Bwyd a Diod Castell-nedd yn un o fy ffefrynnau ac mae’n gyfle gwych i arddangos ein tref farchnad hyfryd i’r llu o dwristiaid a phreswylwyr sy’n ymweld â’r ardal dros y tridiau”.
Gŵyl Bwyd a Diod Castell-nedd yw’r lle i fod i unrhyw un sy’n mwynhau cynnyrch o safon ac sydd am gwrdd â chynhyrchwyr bwyd crefftwyr wyneb yn wyneb. Pan fyddwch yn siarad â’n harddangoswyr, y peth cyntaf y byddwch yn sylwi arno yw eu brwdfrydedd a’u gwybodaeth, p’un a ydynt yn siarad am hufen iâ llaeth gafr, samosas neu fwyd môr, cig eidion hirgorn neu sudd afal, mae popeth wedi cael ei wneud gan bobl sy’n frwd dros ansawdd a phroses y cynnyrch maent yn ei greu.
Yn ôl yr arfer, bydd nifer o stondinwyr poblogaidd yn dychwelyd, fel Aerona Liqueurs, y Chocolate Brownie Company, Bryn Farm Barbeque a llu o stondinau bwyd a diod blasus eraill.
Bydd gŵyl eleni hefyd yn croesawu wynebau newydd ar y stondinau, gan gynnwys stondin teisennau a theisennau cwpan lleol o’r enw Frankie Loves Frills. Meddai Louise McAndrew a Sarah Mainwaring, perchnogion creadigol a dawnus Frankie Loves Frills, “Rydym wedi’n cyffroi’n lân i fod yn rhan o Ŵyl Bwyd a Diod Castell-nedd eleni. Fel busnes bach, mae Gŵyl Castell-nedd yn rhoi’r llwyfan perffaith i ni hyrwyddo’n teisennau. Mae’n gyfle gwych i fod yn rhan o ddigwyddiad sy’n tyfu.”
Bydd yr ŵyl hefyd yn croesawu’r busnesau newydd Cymreig lleol, Seabreeze Fish, Bont Brew, Eccentric Gin a The Bubbly Box, bar bocs ceffylau teithiol sy’n gwerthu Prosecco a Champagne.
Mae Gŵyl Bwyd a Diod Castell-nedd hefyd yn cynnwys dau barth bwyd stryd yn Sgwâr yr Angel a Sgwâr Castell-nedd, Pabell Champagne ar dir Eglwys St Thomas a Neuadd Cwrw Go Iawn yn Neuadd Dref Castell-nedd!
Yn ogystal â rhoi llwyfan i’r stondinwyr arddangos eu cynnyrch, mae’r ŵyl yn gyfle gwych i siopau, bwytai a chaffis poblogaidd Castell-nedd fanteisio ar y miloedd o ymwelwyr sy’n cael eu denu i’r digwyddiad.
Roedd Melanie Jenkins, perchennog Mossies Ladies Fashion ar Stryd Newydd yng Nghastell-nedd yn newydd i fasnachu yn y dref y llynedd ac nid oedd erioed wedi profi’r torfeydd o siopwyr a ddaeth ynghyd â’r ŵyl. Ar ôl profi nos Wener a dydd Sadwrn prysur, penderfynodd Melanie agor ar y dydd Sul. Dywedodd Melanie, “Nid wyf yn agor ar ddydd Sul fel arfer, ond roeddwn i wrth fy modd gyda’r holl ymwelwyr a gawsom dros y tridiau. Y dydd Sul hwnnw oedd un o’n diwrnodau masnachu unigol gorau erioed.”
