An awards ceremony has been held to celebrate the achievements of a Neath Port Talbot Council disability service.

The employment and training service, known as Bspoked Enterprises, gives adults with pan-disabilities the opportunity to build confidence, develop employment skills and become more independent. The service encourages adults to learn about the process of designing, creating and selling handcrafted household products.

The annual ceremony recognises the dedication and hard work of those who work at Bspoked. More than 10 people received awards for achievements such as most progressed, most creative and trainee of the year.

Over 100 people attended the ceremony which was held at Bspoked Enterprises in Neath Abbey Business Park. The awards were presented by Councillor Rob Jones; the Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council and Councillor Dennis Keogh; the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot. Other attendees at the ceremony included the friends, family and carers of the award winners.

Councillor Rob Jones, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, said:

“The annual awards ceremony is a great opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication that everyone has put in during the last year. From looking at the products made at Bspoked, it is clear that everyone who attends the service has a lot of ambition.

“Giving people with disabilities the opportunity to develop their skills and gain confidence is essential to them reaching their full potential and becoming more independent.”

All of the products made at Bspoked are repurposed from materials such as glass, wood, textiles and even donated bikes. The products are converted and sold as everyday items such as clocks, ornaments, wall displays and garden furniture.
