Macmillan Nurse Rose

The first week of November saw the planting of the Macmillan NurseRose at the National Botanic Garden of WalesĀ after local Fundraising Manager Sue Reece approached Senior Horticulturist, Martin Knowles during Volunteersā€™ Week earlier this year.Sue arranged for three plants to be donated on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support and they now have prime place within the Walled Garden.

ā€˜We are really delighted to have the Macmillan Nurse Rose growing in such a prominent position in the National Garden of Wales and we hope it will create a memorable and special place for people to come to during their visit here.Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face and Macmillan is there to make sure people affected by cancer get the support they need, from Macmillan Nurses and Information & Support Specialists helping you through treatment to expert financial advice and campaigns for improved cancer care.ā€™ Sue commented.

Volunteers are at the heart of Macmillan and help the charity to be there for people when they need it most.Ā  Local volunteers across Carmarthenshire and all over Wales give their time to help and support people living with cancer by raising money and in many practical ways too.The Macmillan Carmarthenshire Support Buddies service offers help with housework, gardening, shopping and provides a listening ear by just being there for a chat.Bygiving their time, volunteers help those living with cancer to continue living their everyday lives as much as possible.
