Migrationsand Margam Country Park have announced that aCrowd Funding campaign has been launched to bring the UK PREMIERE OF LIQUID SHARDat Margam Country Parkin summer 2018.

LIQUID SHARDwas created by Los Angeles based artists Poetic Kinetics who are pioneers in the creation of large scale installation and experiential design.

LIQUID SHARD is a site specific installation which will be created anew for the unique settings of  Margam Country Park and Port Talbot.

Liquid Shard is a vast kinetic sculpture inspired by nature. It is made from thousands of fragments of holographic mylar and monofilament. It stretches 15,000 square feet across the site it inhabits, rising and falling, slithering and sliding with the wind like a huge shoal of shining steel fish that references both the steel and the marine industries that are the working heritage of Port Talbot.

Follwing the successul collaboration overthe award winning VR experience TREEHUGGER last summer, Migrations and Margam Country Park are joining forces again to present THE UK PREMIERE of this extraordinary work as part of the Year Of The Sea with Visit Wales.

The team has been working on this project for over a year and are looking to secure the final bit of funding necessary to make the project possible.

They have just launched a Crowd Funding Campaign which has already gathered support in the first few days.

We have until the end of December 2017 to secure the remaining funding to make the project happen.

This is unique opportunity for Wales to premiere a arts installation of international significance.

When Liquid Shard first appears in Los Angeles in summer 2016, it took the internet by storm and went instantly viral, reaching millions of viewers, receiving significant media attention and interest from influnetial websites such as Design Boom, This Is Colossal, Pineterest, Bored Panda, etc.

Karine Décorne, Artistic Director of Migrations said: ‘Migrations strives to bring international performance to Wales through innovative colloborations, commissions and partnerships. Therefore, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Margam Country Park again to bring the UK Premiere of this major arts installation. Liquid Shard will capture the imagination of people here in an unforgettable way.

Through our work we reach large audiences attarcting art lovers and engaging with those who think the contemnporary arts is not for them.

We passionately belive that extraordinary arts can happen outside of the big cities and often work with underserved and unsual settings.
