Council disability service to showcase its work at Christmas Fayre
Neath Port Talbot Council’s employment and training service for adults with disabilities is set to host a Christmas fayre to display its work.
The service, known as Bspoked Enterprises is opening its doors to members of the public to view the work that is carried out at the service. The fayre will showcase the high quality craftsmanship and will give visitors the chance to browse through its unique festive gifts.
Everyone who attends the service is involved in the whole process from designing, manufacturing and selling. The service aims to give people the opportunity to build confidence, develop employment skills and become more independent.
All the products have been handcrafted using repurposed materials such as glass, wood and fabrics. The products are then sold as everyday items that include clocks, ornaments, wall displays and household furniture.
In addition to the Bspoked Christmas product display, a number of local craft makers will be at the fayre. There will also be a wide selection of festive food available from mince pies to turkey rolls.
Councillor Peter Richards, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services and Health, said:
“The Christmas fayre is a great opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication that everyone has put in throughout the year. It is clear from the quality of the products made at Bspoked that everyone who attends the service has a lot of ambition.
“Giving people with disabilities the opportunity to develop their skills and gain confidence is essential to them reaching their full potential and becoming more independent.”
The fayre is open to the public between 10 am and 3 pm on Friday 24th November 2017 at Bspoked Enterprises, Monastery Road, Neath Abbey, Neath, SA10 7DR.
