Council appoints new Director of Social Services, Health and Housing
Andrew Jarrett has been appointed as Neath Port Talbot Council’s Director of Social Services, Health and Housing.
Mr Jarrett takes up the role as Director after spending five years within the Council, first as Head of Children and Family Services, and more recently as Head of Social Services.
A qualified social worker, Mr Jarrett has more than 20 years experience of both strategic and operational management and multi-agency working within the field of social services.
Mr Jarrett has played a pivotal role in improving Children and Young People by ensuring a strong workforce, manageable caseloads and a high quality of social work.
Going forward, Mr Jarrett will focus on the Council’s commitment to continue the safeguarding of children and adults, offer more personalised care, find ways of providing early support to people in need, and utilising community resources to complement or avoid needing traditional care services.
Councillor Rob Jones, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, said:
“Following a thorough and testing selection process, I am delighted to announce Andrew as our new Director of Social Services, Health and Housing.
“This remains a challenging time for all councils, particularly with increasing demand being placed on social services. However, I am confident that Andrew can deliver on our commitment to provide services in a more innovative way and meet demand with fewer resources.”
Cyngor yn penodi Cyfarwyddwr y Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol, Iechyd a Thai newydd
Penodwyd Andrew Jarrett yn Gyfarwyddwr Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol, Iechyd a Thai Castell-nedd Port Talbot.
Bydd Mr Jarrett yn ymgymryd â’i rôl fel Cyfarwyddwr ym mis Rhagfyr 2017 ar ôl treulio pum mlynedd gyda’r cyngor, fel Pennaeth y Gwasanaethau Plant a Theuluoedd yn gyntaf yna ac fel Pennaeth y Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol yn fwy diweddar.
Mae Mr Jarrett yn weithiwr cymdeithasol cymwys ac mae ganddo dros 20 mlynedd o brofiad o reoli strategol a gweithredol a gwaith aml-asiantaeth ym maes y gwasanaethau cymdeithasol.
Mae Mr Jarrett wedi chwarae rôl ganolog wrth wella gwasanaethau plant a phobl ifanc trwy sicrhau bod yna weithlu cadarn, llwythi achosion y gellir eu rheoli ac ansawdd uchel o waith cymdeithasol.
Wrth symud ymlaen bydd Mr Jarrett yn rhoi ffocws ar ymroddiad y cyngor i barhau i ddiogelu plant ac oedolion, yn cynnig mwy o ofal personol, yn dod o hyd i ffyrdd o ddarparu cefnogaeth gynnar i bobl mewn angen, ac yn defnyddio adnoddau cymunedol i ategu neu osgoi’r angen am wasanaethau gofal traddodiadol.

“Yn dilyn proses ddethol drwyadl a heriol, rwy’n falch o gyhoeddi mai Andrew fydd cyfarwyddwr newydd ein Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol, Iechyd a Thai.
“Mae hwn yn gyfnod heriol i’r holl gynghorau, yn enwedig gyda mwy a mwy o alw ar y gwasanaethau cymdeithasol. Fodd bynnag, rwy’n hyderus bod Andrew yn gallu cyflawni’n hymroddiad i ddarparu gwasanaethau mewn ffordd fwy blaengar ac ateb y galw gyda llai o adnoddau.”
