Budget Consultation Reaches Half Way Point
Neath Port Talbot Council’s consultation on a set of draft budget proposals for 2018-19 and beyond has reached the half way point.
The draft proposals have been developed to address the predicted budget shortfall of approximately £10.2 million next year, with an estimated £65 million needing to be found by 2023.
Councillor Carol Clement-Williams, Cabinet Member for Finance, said:
“In setting the budget for the next financial year, difficult decisions will once again have to be made. This is why it is so important for people to let us know their views.”
“We want to know what people think of the proposals, how the proposals might affect people if they go ahead and any suggestions for alternative ways of easing the pressure on the budget.”
Councillor Rob Jones, Leader Neath Port Talbot Council said:
“We know that people in the county borough care about Council services and how they are provided and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to give us their views so far. There is still plenty of time to have your say before the survey closes on 15th January 2018, and I would really encourage everyone to do so.”
The Council is urging residents, community groups, third sector organisations, charities and local businesses to comment on the proposals. There are a number of ways to do this, including a dedicated webpage www.npt.gov.uk/budget with an online feedback form, Facebook @NeathPortTalbotCBC, Twitter @NPTCouncil or email nptbudget@npt.gov.uk.
There are also feedback boxes at community centres and libraries across the county borough where paper versions of the feedback form can be posted
