Panel welcomes improvements to Dyfed Powys Police force

DYFED Powys Police and Crime Panel has welcomed the recent report which shows that the force is continuing to improve.

For the first time in four years, the force has been graded as ‘good’ by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), which independently assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of police forces.

Police and Crime Panel Chair Cllr Alun Lloyd Jones said: “It is very welcome news that Dyfed Powys Police force has been assessed as being good.

“It shows that the new leadership in place with the Commissioner and Chief Constable is working well and they are progressing with their plans for continuous improvement.

“Although the Panel recognises there is still more to be done, we are pleased with the significant progress made over the last year, and would like to congratulate the Commissioner, the Chief Constable and all staff who have helped to make this possible.

“As a Panel we will continue to scrutinise the work of the Commissioner and receive regular updates on the progress made.”

HMICFRS has identified some areas for improvement which the police say they have already begun work to address.
