Starbucks hits record number of Christmas gifts to be donated to charity
Starbucks stores across South Wales and Swindon collect 1,800 presents to support Barnardo’s
December 2017: During the past four weeks, over 180 Starbucks employees from 12 stores across South Wales and Swindon have come together to take part in the Secret Santa Appeal with Barnardo’s – the UK’s largest children’s charity. In total, they have collected 1,800 presents to be donated to children throughout Wales.
On Wednesday 20th December, the store team at Starbucks Fabian Way Drive Thru will host their annual Christmas tea party for children in the Swansea area that received a special gift, where they will be treated to hot chocolate, cake and a Christmas selection box..
Leon Esfahani, Managing Director at Starbucks franchisee Magic Bean Company, said: “I’m so proud of the generosity of our local communities and partners (employees), in collecting so many gifts for children to enjoy this Christmas. Barnardo’s is a wonderful cause that we look forward to supporting every year – we are so pleased to have beaten our target by nearly 300 presents, although that now rasies the stakes even higher for next year!”
Barnardo’s Cymru works with children, young people and families living on the margins of society who are struggling to overcome the disadvantages caused by poverty, abuse and discrimination. They currently run 88 services across Wales including family support services, care leavers and seraf service.
