The Evolution of Digital Comics
Did you know that cartoons in newspapers were published in as early as the 1700’s? Over the years, people remained fascinated with these fictional stories and more interesting stories were created. From cartoons in newspapers, comic books were born and have continued to evolve.
We have already seen a lot of interesting comic stories. Some of them have become huge blockbuster hits. Whether these stories were written in the US or Japan, they all have international appeal.
Of course, we no longer enjoy cartoons only in newspapers today. We also don’t just get comic stories from comic books. Digital comics are now a huge deal. They are also referred to as webtoons.
They might be different from the comics you grew up with, but because they were brought to a digital platform, the influence of comics remained.
It was in 2003 when webtoons were launched in South Korea but it was not until 2014 when there was a global launch. This low profile source of entertainment eventually became a big deal as millions of readers around the world have become interested.
From an obscure online content, webtoons now rake an average of 6 million readers on a daily basis. If the figures were to be analyzed, this number will keep on getting bigger.
Only one thing is certain- comics will remain forever. We have seen the evolution of comics and they all suggest that regardless of the generation, their impact stays on.
