AM meets health bosses to discuss proposed changes
Mid and West AM Simon Thomas met with health bosses to discuss the latest proposals for the reorganisation of the health service in the region.
The Assembly Member met with Steve Moore, Chief Executive of Hywel Dda University Health Board along with clinicians in Carmarthen to discuss a number of issues including suggestions that hospitals could be shut by the health board.
Plans were leaked earlier this week causing concern amongst residents living in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion about the future of Withybush, Bronglais, Glangwili and Prince Philip Hospitals. The proposals will go out to consultation later this year.
Plaid Cymru Mid and West AM Simon Thomas said:
“There are big changes in the area in our health services. We do need the modernisation of services but we also need access to the health service in all parts of Hywel Dda University Health Board. Essential to this is GP and mental health provision.
“Plaid Cymru and myself have committed to keeping Accident and Emergency Services in Pembrokeshire.
“We’ve shown our commitment to improving our health services across the region. An example is securing investment through a budget agreement with the Welsh Government for a £22m new integrated care centre in Cardigan.”
