The Celtic Cup, the annual one-day tournament for the Wales, Scotland and Ireland Wheelchair sides, is to this year be sponsored by Prabhu Ventures Ltd.

Mr Ashish Prabhu is a freelance journalist who covers news, current affairs and sports stories specialising in disability, equality and diversity issues. He also sponsors many grassroots football teams including AFC Liverpool, St Helens Town AFC and some of the Bold Rangers AFC academy sides.

This year’s it’s Wales’ turn to host the tournament and it will be held at Deeside Leisure Centre on Saturday 28th April. The opening ceremony is at 11am followed by the first game at 11.15am.

It’s the hosts’ responsibility to organise the tournament and Wales Wheelchair Team Manager, Mark Andrew Jones, is delighted that Prabhu Ventures Ltd have come on board.

He said: “We are grateful for Mr Prabhu’s generous sponsorship. As we know, he’s a great supporter of all sport and we’re delighted that he is now the backer of a major sporting tournament. I’m sure it’ll be an outstanding day which will see three full 80 minute games.”

Wales are the holders of the Prabhu Ventures Celtic Cup, having won the tournament in Stirling last year. They were also winners in 2016 in the inaugural tournament in Blackpool.
