These are two poems from Sean Hollyman, a local writer who enjoys writing his thoughts down into little chunks to get them out of his mind and readable. He spends most of his time thinking of strange things so he thought it would be a good idea to have a place to put them.

Prepare to Die

It’s an odd thing, really.

Death is supposed to be the end.

Everything leads up to it.

Every staircase.

Every door.

Every surprise.

Yet I’ve found myself experiencing death over and over again.

Sinking into the bottom of the world.

Crumbling beneath the feet of gods.

Tumbling into the abyss.

I’ve grown used to it.

Just another step you take before the next.

It becomes an acquaintance.

An old friend.

You feel  mixed emotions.

Fear so thick you can almost touch it.

That heavy feeling in your throat.

You want to scream.

You want to turn around and run.

You do the exact opposite of what you want to do.

You strike down that fear.

Clench that jaw, swallow your scream.

Dig your heels into the ground.

Look them right in the eye.

It’s all the same.

Prepare to die.

My friend Geodude

I sit there and stare at my bag

Laying on the ground

I’m greeted by a Geodude

Rolling all around

I haven’t eaten much today

I’m ever so tired

If eating was a job

I’d probably get fired

I pick up the Geodude

It’s been rolling and all smelly

I pick it up and eat it

Now it’s in my belly
