Rural volunteering project launches
A NEW project has been launched to recruit volunteers and create more volunteering opportunities in rural Carmarthenshire.
The Rural Volunteering Programme, which is being led by the Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS) aims to tackle a range of issues around volunteering in rural areas, including broadening the scope of opportunities, providing training for volunteers and promoting the health and wellbeing, social and community values of volunteering.
The project will also reach out to more rural communities through its mobile volunteering unit.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member for communities and rural affairs, Cllr Cefin Campbell, said: “The benefits of volunteering are numerous. It can broaden horizons and skill sets for those volunteering and improving employability. Volunteers can also be a great asset to organisations and companies who recruit them.
“This is a fantastic project to help our rural areas and we are delighted to be supporting it.”
The Rural Volunteering mobile unit will be exploring the Tywi area throughout February, visiting as many areas as possible. Other areas to be visited throughout the year include Whitland and St Clears, Llanybydder, Newcastle Emlyn, Llandeilo and Llandovery, the Gwendraeth and Glanamman. The project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 (RDP), which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
Rural volunteering officer Jamie Horton said: “We aim to reach as many rural communities as possible, no matter how remote, with the goal of encouraging volunteering and promoting volunteering opportunities across the area.
“We are open to suggestions as to where we can visit – if individuals or groups would like us to visit their community, just let us know.”

Lansio prosiect gwirfoddoli gwledig
MAE prosiect newydd wedi cael ei lansio i recriwtio gwirfoddolwyr a chreu mwy o gyfleoedd gwirfoddoli yn y Sir Gaerfyrddin wledig.
Nod y Rhaglen Gwirfoddoli Gwledig, sy’n cael ei harwain gan Gymdeithas Gwasanaethau Gwirfoddol Sir Gâr (CAVS) yw mynd i’r afael ag ystod o faterion sy’n ymwneud â gwirfoddoli mewn ardaloedd gwledig, gan gynnwys ehangu’r cyfleoedd, darparu hyfforddiant i wirfoddolwyr a hyrwyddo’r gwerthoedd iechyd a llesiant a’r gwerthoedd cymdeithasol a chymunedol sydd ynghlwm wrth wirfoddoli.
Bydd y prosiect hefyd yn darparu ar gyfer cymunedau mwy gwledig drwy ei uned wirfoddoli symudol.
Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Cefin Campbell, yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros gymunedau a materion gwledig, Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin: “Mae manteision niferus i wirfoddoli. Gall gwirfoddoli ehangu gorwelion a sgiliau yn ogystal â gwella cyflogadwyedd. Gall gwirfoddolwyr hefyd fod yn ased arbennig i sefydliadau a chwmnïau sy’n eu recriwtio.
“Mae hwn yn brosiect gwych i helpu ein hardaloedd gwledig ac rydym wrth ein bodd ei gefnogi.”
Bydd yr Uned Gwirfoddoli Gwledig symudol yn edrych ar ardal Tywi drwy gydol mis Chwefror gan ymweld â chynifer o ardaloedd â phosibl. Mae ardaloedd eraill i’w hymweld â nhw yn ystod y flwyddyn yn cynnwys Hendy-gwyn ar Daf a Sanclêr, Llanybydder, Castellnewydd Emlyn, Llandeilo a Llanymddyfri, y Gwendraeth a Glanaman. Mae amserlen ar gyfer ymweliadau’r prosiect ar gael drwy fynd i www.cavs.org.uk.
Mae’r prosiect wedi derbyn cyllid trwy Raglen Datblygu Gwledig Llywodraeth Cymru 2014-2020 (RDP), sy’n cael ei hariannu gan Lywodraeth Cymru a Chronfa Amaethyddol Ewrop ar gyfer Datblygu Gwledig.
