New additions and exciting pathway structure announced for North Wales Rugby League

North Wales Origin RL are delighted to announce that North Wales Crusaders CEO, Andy Moulsdale has been appointed as Chairman and Conrad Anderson as Vice-Chair of their recently formed management committee.

Moulsdale, who has been with North Wales Crusaders since day one as a player and most recently as CEO, brings both extensive on-field experience as well as a raft of off field experience at a professional level that will complement and enhance that of the committee as a whole.

Anderson, already a long term supporter of NW Origin RL personally and through his own local Rugby League show on Calon FM, is also a welcome addition to the management team. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from community grass roots through to professional clubs.

In taking up these appointments, both were brimming with enthusiasm for this new venture with Moulsdale saying: “I am delighted to be involved in the start of the Origin set up. A lot of hard work has gone into getting this up and running. It’s an exciting time for North Wales rugby league, it will take time but we are certainly creating that much needed pathway.”

Anderson has already generated a lot of local and even national interest in the NW Origin staunchly believing in the need to develop home grown talent for the great benefit of the national team and beyond.

He said: “Over the years I have interviewed a lot of people involved in the game that has consistently highlighted the lack of opportunity in North Wales for our youngsters. I have even interviewed on my show, the few that have made it often seemingly against the odds, but now with the help of a really dedicated team of volunteers we are starting see not only a clear continuing development pathway for the youngsters but more are deservedly getting noticed and selected”.

Anderson also works closely with NW Origin’s head coach Mark Robinson in his role of Community Liaison officer to develop Rugby League further in schools and clubs; a fundamental part of the player pipeline for the future. He went onto say: “Working closely with Andy Moulsdale and Mark Robinson at North Wales Crusaders, it was another no-brainer reason for me to accept the position of vice-chair, we all have a good working relationship and strive to achieve great things. These are very exciting times for Rugby League in North Wales and I’m delighted that I’m part of it.”

The appointments also help put into place another link in the player pathway that was announced by North Wales Crusaders this week (please see image).

Commenting on the structure, North Wales Crusaders CEO Andy Moulsdale said: “It’s important that the club develops a junior pathway, it’s something that I feel the club has to have, otherwise there’s no point in having a rugby league club in North Wales.

“Mark Robinson has done a good job getting all this off the ground with the community team and with Allen jones coming back into the fold it’s really helped.

‘The structure is simple and will provide everyone involved with the club a clear vision of how things will work.”

North Wales Crusaders are also hosting a community day at the Queensway Stadium on Sunday which includes a free taster session for 4-18 year olds regardless of previous playing experience.

The day will begin at 11am when the North Wales Origin representation side take to the field for an open training session, before a Supporters Trust meeting will be held in The Fat Boar Hospitality Suite starting at 1pm.

Following the meeting, at 2pm there will be a free to attend training session for the North Wales Crusaders Mini’s (ages 4-6), Dragon’s (ages 7-11) and academy (ages 12-18)  sections.
