Parc Y Tywyn nursery for children aged three

CHILDREN in Burry Port will now receive Welsh language education from the age of three, in a move agreed by Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board.

Part time early years nursery provision will be provided at the town’s Ysgol Parc Y Tywyn for pupils when they reach three. Until now it has only accepted pupils from the age of four.

The council has committed to working closely with private sector child care providers in the area to ensure families can benefit from ‘wrap around’ services, and to reduce the impact on local businesses – one of the main issues identified during a wide-ranging consultation.

Cllr Glynog Davies, executive board member for education and children’s services, said: “Cylch Meithrin in Burry Port has done excellent work in the past. The nursery education given will be part time. There’s a possibility for the Meithrin and us to work together to provide a wrap-around service.”

Currently, early years provision is provided at 36 schools across Carmarthenshire, however, Cllr Davies said this could be extended to all schools in the future.

A ‘task and finish’ group of councillors has been set up to look into the issue.

BYDD plant yn ardal Porth Tywyn bellach yn derbyn addysg Gymraeg o dair oed yn dilyn penderfyniad gan Fwrdd Gweithredol Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin.

Bydd darpariaeth feithrin blynyddoedd cynnar ran amser ar gael yn Ysgol Parc y Tywyn yn y dref ar gyfer disgyblion sy’n dair oed. Hyd yn hyn, mae’r ysgol dim ond wedi derbyn disgyblion sy’n bedair oed a hŷn.

Mae’r Cyngor wedi ymrwymo i weithio’n agos gyda darparwyr gofal plant y sector preifat yn yr ardal er mwyn sicrhau y gall teuluoedd gael budd o’r gwasanaethau cofleidiol a lleihau’r effaith ar fusnesau lleol sef un o’r prif faterion a nodwyd yn ystod ymgynghoriad helaeth.

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Glynog Davies, yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros Addysg a Gwasanaethau Plant: “Mae’r Cylch Meithrin ym Mhorth Tywyn wedi gwneud gwaith gwych yn y gorffennol. Bydd yr addysg feithrin dan sylw yn rhan-amser. Mae posibilrwydd i ni a’r ysgol feithrin weithio gyda’n gilydd er mwyn darparu gwasanaeth cofleidiol.”

Ar hyn o bryd, ceir darpariaeth blynyddoedd cynnar mewn 36 o ysgolion ledled Sir Gaerfyrddin, fodd bynnag, dywedodd y Cynghorydd Davies y gellir ymestyn hyn i’r holl ysgolion yn y dyfodol.

Mae grŵp Gorchwyl a Gorffen o gynghorwyr wedi cael ei sefydlu er mwyn edrych ar y mater.
