Action for Children’s Wales Fostering Service is celebrating their fantastic foster mothers on Mother’s Day by saluting their love and commitment to the children they care for.
Matt Lewis, Fostering Services Manager at Action for Children Fostering Wales, said: ‘It’s so important we recognise the great work of our foster mothers and there’s no better time than Mother’s Day to do it. Our children have often faced very difficult starts in life and our foster mums provide much needed love and care to their children.
‘Our therapeutic family based approach helps our foster parents support the child in a way that really helps them to develop emotionally – reducing anxiety and increasing the chances of the child developing new trust, building secure relationships and feeling like a valued member of a family. The foster parents do a brilliant job and it’s fitting to take a moment and salute our foster mums on Mother’s Day.’
Caroline Allen, a foster mother with the Wales Fostering Service, said: ‘I’m so proud to be a foster mother and over the years we’ve fostered many children. It can at times be challenging but also so satisfying and I love the role. It’s lovely to see the children grow and thrive and help them to feel part of a caring family.’
