Re-vamped countryside walks
County walks across Carmarthenshire have been given a makeover thanks to the Rights of Way Improvement Plan.
Nearly 30km, covering 30 routes across the county and reaching 11 town and community council areas have benefitted from an upgrade. Ninety six items of furniture have been installed, the majority being new gates to help improve public access to the countryside.
In Talley, four routes have been worked on and all furniture improved, in addition to a new steel footbridge. Five routes in Llangadog have had a full upgrade with a new steel footbridge installed. All the bridges have anti-slip surfaces to aid with access for all in the countryside.
The programme of works was funded by the Welsh Government, managed by Natural Resources Wales and implemented by the Council.
Funding was allocated to priority routes and high footfall areas.
The executive board member for countryside, Cllr Peter Hughes-Griffiths said: “Our officers have been working hard to improve many of the routes that are popular with the public. We have some beautiful countryside walks right on our doorstep and I hope that these improvement works will encourage even more people to use them.”
Teithiau cerdded gwledig ar eu gwedd newydd
Diolch i’r Cynllun Gwella Hawliau Tramwy, mae llwybrau cerdded ledled Sir Gaerfyrddin wedi’u gweddnewid.
Mae bron i 30 o gilometrau, sy’n cynnwys 30 o lwybrau ledled y Sir ac 11 ardal cyngor tref a chymuned wedi elwa ar y gwelliannau. Gosodwyd naw deg chwe o gelfi, ac roedd y mwyafrif o’r rheiny yn cynnwys gatiau newydd er mwyn helpu i wella mynediad cyhoeddus i gefn gwlad.
Yn Nhalyllychau, cafodd gwaith ei gynnal ar bedwar llwybr a gosodwyd celfi gwell, yn ogystal â phont droed dur newydd. Mae pum llwybr yn Llangadog wedi cael eu huwchraddio a gosodwyd pont droed dur newydd. Mae gan bob pont arwynebau llawr gwrthlithro i helpu i bawb fynd gefn gwlad.
Cafodd y rhaglen waith ei hariannu gan Lywodraeth Cymru, ei rheoli gan Gyfoeth Naturiol Cymru a’i gweithredu gan y Cyngor.
Dyrannwyd cyllid i’r llwybrau sy’n cael blaenoriaeth ac ardaloedd lle y mae nifer o ymwelwyr.
Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Peter Hughes Griffiths, yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros Gefn Gwlad: “Mae ein swyddogion wedi bod yn gweithio’n galed i wella llawer o’r llwybrau sy’n boblogaidd ymhlith y cyhoedd. Mae gennym lwybrau cerdded gwledig hardd ar stepen ein drws, ac rwy’n gobeithio y bydd y gwelliannau hyn yn annog mwy fyth o bobl i’w defnyddio.”
