Ground condition survey works at Heol Dyfnallt
RESIDENTS in Heol Dyfnallt, Carmarthen, have been given notice of exploratory groundworks in the area over the next few weeks.
A gas works used to occupy the site before houses were built there. The works served the former St David’s Hospital and was demolished in 1938.
The council undertakes regular inspections on the land as a precautionary measure, and has appointed contractors to check the conditions on a number of green open spaces between Heol Dyfnallt and Bro Myrddin.
Local members – Cllr Emlyn Shiavone and Cllr Alan Speake – have been made aware of the forthcoming works and are supporting the council to communicate with residents.
A letter has also been issued to all households in the estate informing them of intended activity.
Cllr Philip Hughes, executive board member for public protection, said: “Some time ago Carmarthenshire County Council undertook an investigation into ground conditions at Heol Dyfnallt due to the gas works that used to occupy the site many years ago.
“In order to reassure ourselves that there has been no significant change since the last ground survey, we will be carrying out some follow-up work in the next few weeks to monitor ground conditions. This is only precautionary and to check that conditions remain satisfactory.”
The work will not require access to anyone’s property, and residents will not need to be home when the survey is being done.
Anyone with concerns is asked to contact the council’s environmental health team by calling 01267 234567.
Cynnal arolwg ar gyflwr y tir yn Heol Dyfnallt
MAE trigolion yn Heol Dyfnallt, Caerfyrddin, wedi cael gwybod y bydd gwaith tir ymchwiliol yn cael ei gynnal yn yr ardal dros yr wythnosau nesaf.
Roedd gwaith nwy yn arfer bod ar y safle cyn i dai gael eu hadeiladu yno. Roedd y gwaith nwy yn gwasanaethu Ysbyty Dewi Sant a chafodd ei ddymchwel yn 1938.
Mae’r Cyngor yn cynnal archwiliadau rheolaidd ar y tir er mwyn bod yn gwbl ddiogel, ac mae wedi penodi contractwyr i archwilio cyflwr nifer o fannau agored glas rhwng Heol Dyfnallt a Bro Myrddin.
Mae’r aelodau lleol, y Cynghorydd Emlyn Schiavone a’r Cynghorydd Alan Speake, wedi cael gwybod am y gwaith arfaethedig ac maen nhw’n cynorthwyo’r Cyngor i gyfathrebu â thrigolion.
Hefyd mae llythyr wedi cael ei anfon i bob aelwyd ar yr ystâd yn rhoi gwybod iddyn nhw am y gweithgarwch arfaethedig.
Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Philip Hughes, yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros Ddiogelu’r Cyhoedd: “Peth amser yn ôl roedd Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin wedi cynnal ymchwiliad i gyflwr y tir yn Heol Dyfnallt oherwydd y gwaith nwy oedd yn arfer bod ar y safle nifer o flynyddoedd yn ôl.
“Er mwyn rhoi sicrwydd i’n hunain nad oes unrhyw newid sylweddol wedi bod ers yr arolwg tir diwethaf, byddwn yn cynnal ychydig o waith dilynol yn yr wythnosau nesaf i fonitro cyflwr y tir. Mae hyn yn cael ei wneud yn unig er mwyn bod yn gwbl ddiogel ac er mwyn gwirio bod y cyflwr yn parhau’n foddhaol.”
Ni fydd angen cael mynediad i gartref unrhyw un er mwyn gwneud y gwaith, ac ni fydd angen i drigolion fod gartref pan fydd yr arolwg yn cael ei wneud.
Gall unrhyw un sydd â phryderon ynghylch y mater gysylltu â Thîm Iechyd yr Amgylchedd y Cyngor drwy ffonio 01267 234567.
