The UK Government has finally given the go-ahead for Wales to pilot bifocal windscreens. The windscreens would help the millions of car drivers and also passengers see the roads better and improve road safety.
Selwyn Gint, Road Safety Coordinator for the Welsh Government said:
“This is something that we’ve been pushing for some time.”
“We understand how road safety is important in the public’s eyes and want to do as much as possible to ensure that our roads become safer.”
The government is now looking for people to take part in the trial. Those that do will receive a new bi-focal windscreen will be asked for their opinions.
Local Opticians John Evans and Sons have been given the contract by the Government to run the pilot scheme.
“The scheme is only open to Carmarthenshire residents who need glasses to see. Boy racers who are looking to soup up their cars will not be eligible.”
“We’ll provide an eye test and then change your windscreen to suit your eye sight.”
The scheme is expected to generate millions of pounds for the Welsh economy. Those wishing to take part can email bifocal@westwaleschronicle.co.uk
