“Safer Lives, Healthier Families” – Consultation on violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence strategy

AUTHORITIES in the mid and west Wales region are seeking input into their new strategy on tackling violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

Survivors of violence and abuse, families and friends, individuals or organisations working with survivors or perpetrators, or anyone with views in general, are being encouraged to have their voices heard as the development of the strategy reaches its final stage.

The enactment of the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015 requires public sector bodies to work together to improve the outcomes for individuals and their families who are subjected to abuse.

Local authorities and health boards in the region have drafted their first joint strategy to outline how they will support victims and survivors, tackle perpetrators, ensure professionals have the tools and knowledge to act and increase awareness of the issues.

The strategy also aims to help children and young people to understand inequality in relationships and know that abusive behaviour is always wrong.

The draft strategy has been published for consultation on Carmarthenshire County Council’s website, www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales.

People have until June 28 to share their views about the strategy and the difference it could make.

Cllr Jane Tremlett, Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member for health and social care, said: “Tackling violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence is a key priority of the mid and west Wales region. We want to ensure we get this strategy right, and encourage anyone with experience or views to have their say.”

MAE awdurdodau yn rhanbarth Canolbarth a Gorllewin Cymru yn ceisio sylwadau mewn perthynas â’u strategaeth newydd ynghylch mynd i’r afael â thrais yn erbyn menywod, cam-drin domestig a thrais rhywiol.

Mae pobl sydd wedi goroesi trais a chamdriniaeth, teuluoedd a ffrindiau, unigolion neu sefydliadau sy’n gweithio gyda goroeswyr neu’r rhai sy’n cam-drin, neu unrhyw un sydd â barn yn gyffredinol, yn cael eu hannog i dweud eu dweud wrth i waith datblygu’r strategaeth gyrraedd y cam olaf.

Mae Deddf Trais yn erbyn Menywod, Cam-drin Domestig a Thrais Rhywiol (Cymru) 2015 yn ei gwneud yn ofynnol i gyrff sector cyhoeddus weithio gyda’i gilydd i wella’r canlyniadau ar gyfer unigolion a’u teuluoedd y mae camdriniaeth yn effeithio arnynt.

Mae awdurdodau lleol a byrddau iechyd yn y rhanbarth wedi drafftio eu strategaeth ar y cyd gyntaf i amlinellu sut y byddant yn cefnogi dioddefwyr a goroeswyr, mynd i’r afael â’r rhai sy’n cam-drin, sicrhau bod gan weithwyr proffesiynol y dulliau a’r wybodaeth i weithredu a chynyddu ymwybyddiaeth o’r materion.

Mae’r strategaeth hefyd yn ceisio helpu plant a phobl ifanc i ddeall anghydraddoldeb mewn perthynas a gwybod bod ymddygiad camdriniol bob amser yn anghywir.

Mae’r strategaeth ddrafft wedi’i chyhoeddi at ddibenion ymgynghori ar wefan Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin, www.sirgar.llyw.cymru

Gall pobl rannu eu barn ynghylch y strategaeth a’r gwahaniaeth y gallai ei gwneud tan 28 Mehefin.

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Jane Tremlett, yr Aelod o Fwrdd Gweithredol Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin dros Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol: “Mae mynd i’r afael â thrais yn erbyn menywod, cam-drin domestig a thrais rhywiol yn un o flaenoriaethau allweddol rhanbarth Canolbarth a Gorllewin Cymru. Rydym am sicrhau ein bod yn cael y strategaeth hon yn iawn, ac yn annog unrhyw un sydd â phrofiad neu farn i ddweud ei ddweud.”
