WALES TOUR ON FOUR

Wales’ three-test summer tour will be shown exclusively live on Channel 4.

Warren Gatland’s squad will face Rugby Championship sides South Africa and Argentina next month and all three matches will be available live on free to air TV.

Channel 4 recently announced a four-year deal from 2018/19 to broadcast nine live matches each season of The Champions Cup and this summer’s international rugby rights adds to the channel’s rugby offering.

Wales kick off their summer tour against the Springboks in Washington DC on June 2 (KO 22:00 UK time). They then travel south for back-to-back tests against the Pumas in San Juan on June 9, followed by Santa Fe on June 16 (both matches KO 20:40 UK time).

WRU Group Chief Executive Martyn Phillips said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Channel 4 to deliver live rights to all three of this summer’s tests.

“The squad will be travelling across the Americas facing Rugby Championship opposition and it is great that the matches will be shown live on free to air TV on Saturday evenings back here in the U.K

“Channel 4 have a strong sporting pedigree with an innovative reputation and have recently announced a long-term deal to show the Champions Cup and we are looking forward to working with them.”

Channel 4’s Sports Editor Stephen Lyle said: “We’re really excited to be bringing rugby to Channel 4 viewers for the first time and the fact it’s Wales taking on teams of the calibre of South Africa and Argentina makes it even more special.” S4C will show highlights of each game the following day – further details to be released
