CETMA’s football team for 16+ males in Llanelli has been running training sessions for the last few weeks and is making a positive impact.

The purpose of the team is to fight Mental Health stigma and to provide somewhere where males and now females can attend that will be non-competitive but friendly and provide fitness.

Every Monday evening at 6pm apart from the bank holidays, they’ve been meeting at People’s Park in Llanelli and numbers are growing. Daren Lowe, CETMA Health and Wellbeing Manager said:

“We’re encouraging anyone suffering with isolation, stress, anxiety and depression or are feeling lonely to come along and have fun taking part.” “Sadly there have been a lot of Young People (11 to 25), mostly males attempting to take their own lives in Carmarthenshire and we’re doing this to try and offer some help.” “We’d also like to invite women over 16 to join us and take part. You don’t need to be fit like Mo Salah or Sadio Mane to get involved or kick a ball. Taking part and being involved is what counts.”

The Team is affiliated with the West Wales Football Association but will not compete in a league, but will instead play friendlies against organisations and businesses. The team are training every Monday in People’s Park at 6pm.
