Upcoming DC Comic Movies: Part One.

Aquaman:

This is one I have been waiting for, for a long time. It has already been described as Star Wars under water. For so many years Aquaman has been the butt of so many jokes and has never been taken seriously. Jason Momoa is no doubt the man to bring this character right to the top. And with James Wan-director of films such as ‘Saw,’  ‘The Conjuring Movies’  and  ‘Furious 7,’ I think this is going to be something very special.

As you already know, Jason Momoa will be taking the aquatic helm as Arthur Curry/Aquaman alongside Amber Heard as Mera-Future, Queen of Atlantis.

Also playing characters alongside will be Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulco, Dolph Lundgran as King Nereus/Mears Father, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane/Black Manta.

You may remember Yahya Abdul-Kane II as Sgt Ellerbee in 2017s Baywatch movie. It may interest you to know that when the Justice League movie came out in December of last year, we kept hearing the sentence ‘Unite the Seven.’ Although it may have seemed to be referring to the members of the Justice League, it’s in fact referring to the seven tribes, or kings of the seven seas.

Aquaman will be released in theatres December 21^st, 2018.

Shazam:

Oh yes. We finally we have a ‘Shazam’ movie in the making.

Think of Superman with a child’s mind. In this case Shazam is a child, but becomes a full- sized adult by saying just one word… SHAZAM!!! It’s already been referred to as Superman meets Big, which I think, is pretty cool.

Starring in the role will be Zachary Levi as Shazam, while his alter-child ego Billy Batson will be played by Asher Angel. Now I know your probably wondering who will be playing the antagonist of the story. It was originally planned that Dwayne Johnson for his upcoming role as Black Adam would be filling the part. But since they wanted both Shazam and Black Adam to have their own origin stories, they decided not to feature them both in this debut film.

As it turns out, the main antagonist for Shazam will be Dr. Thaddeus Sivanna who will be played by none other than Mark Strong.  And taking on the role as The Wizard will be Ron Cephas Jones.

Shazam is set to be released in theatres  on April 5^th ,2019.

Wonder Woman 2:

As you all know, Patty Jenkins directed Wonder Woman back in 2017. She now takes the director’s chair again for Wonder Woman 2. It may have a different title which I’ll let you know about when the time comes.

As Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot gave a remarkable performance. It gave us a fresh new look into the background of her origins and her chemistry with Chris Pine as Steve Trevor was in essence, out of this world.

Obviously, Gal Gadot will be taking the role as Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince alongside Chris Pine again as Steve Trevor… don’t know how though… maybe he’ll feature in flashbacks! Kristen Wiig will also be joining the cast as she takes on the role of Cheetah along with Pedro Pascal. Lynda Carter is rumoured to be playing a part as well.

Wonder Woman 2 is set to be released in theatres November 1^st,2019.
