Nia Griffith MP said: “I am bitterly disappointed by the UK Government’s short-sighted decision to scrap the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon. It is shameful that after well over a year of dither and delay the UK Government is giving up on a project that would have established Wales as a world leader in this industry. It also would have secured a clean source of energy for the future and provided a massive boost to the Welsh economy.

“The Tories have let down Wales yet again. They are deliberately ignoring the independent Hendry review which recommended going ahead and investing in our steel industry to produce the parts, and spurning the financial support offered by Welsh Labour Government. Labour will fight this disgraceful decision, and continue to campaign for proper investment in Wales.”
