Delivery Day
Is this a day off, a free day for me
Well no there’s a delivery awaited
This means have to stay in until received
Lots of things to do, to catch-up
But what do I do instead?
I stand and watch the window
Afraid to miss the said white van
As soon as it comes I am free
Free to rest and recuperate
Peace and silence throughout the house
Except until then so tense
Have I lost a day of holiday
To stand and stare in case I miss
Miss the said delivery man
They said he would text a while before
So relax and wait unencumbered
No not me, no trust
So tense, afraid to miss
Miss the doorbell? The crunch of the drive
So many clues that someone’s arrived!
Relax, let go, enjoy the day
I will when said delivery appears
A whole day wasted for a 2 minute transaction
A relief to receive, I am free
Not tied anymore, relax, catch up
Oh listen the family is home for tea!!!
