Torfaen Tigers drew level with Valley Cougars at the top of the Welsh Premier League table after earning a hard-fought win against Rhondda Outlaws.

Despite it being just a two-try victory for the away side, the game was really a lot closer. Torfaen, who were 18-10 up at half-time, capitalised on a number of Outlaws’ errors for their tries.

David Thomas, Matt Williams and Sam Taylor scored for the Tigers before the break with Dai Thomas converting all three. Lee Griffiths and Jackson Huntley replied for Rhondda with Chris Harris converting the second try.

Rhondda came back well and Griffiths’ second try, again converted by Harris, helped them get back in the game, but poor passing let them down and didn’t take the chances they had.

In the end, it took tries from Jarrod Hinnem and Rhys Davies, one converted by Thomas, to seal the victory.
