Temporary barbecue ban at Pembrey Country Park

RANGERS at Pembrey Country Park are enforcing a temporary ban on barbecues, camping stoves and camp fires to limit the risks of grass and forest fires.

A small fire broke out at the Park on Saturday afternoon after a barbecue ignited trees and bushes near to the visitor centre.

It was kept under control by rangers and extinguished by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, but sparked evacuation of the nearby campsite.

Ground conditions have been extra dry following the intense heatwave which, whilst great for camping conditions, mean extra hazards for park rangers to deal with.

A temporary ban has now been put in place until ground conditions dampen.

Signage has been placed around the park and information has been shared on the Park’s website and social media channels.

Visitors are being encouraged to bring picnics and pre-cooked foods.

Ian Jones, Head of Leisure, said: “We don’t want to spoil anyone’s enjoyment of the Park but we have to put safety considerations first. We had previously advised people to exercise caution with lit barbecues and disposal of waste but until conditions improve we are now enforcing a ban.

“We hope people will understand our reasoning behind this move and respect the ban.”

Gwaharddiad dros dro ar farbeciws ym Mharc Gwledig Pen-bre

MAE ceidwaid ym Mharc Gwledig Pen-bre yn gorfodi gwaharddiad dros dro ar farbeciws, ffyrnau gwersylla a thanau gwersylla er mwyn lleihau’r risg o ran tanau glaswellt a choedwigoedd.

Roedd tân bach wedi dechrau yn y Parc brynhawn Sadwrn ar ôl i farbeciw gynnau coed a llwyni ger y ganolfan ymwelwyr.

Cafodd y tân ei gadw o dan reolaeth gan y ceidwaid a’i ddiffodd gan Wasanaeth Tân ac  Achub Canolbarth a Gorllewin Cymru, ond gofynnwyd i bobl adael y safle gwersylla a charafanio.

Mae cyflwr y ddaear yn sych iawn yn dilyn y tywydd poeth, sy’n wych ar gyfer gwersylla, ond mae’n gallu golygu peryglon ychwanegol ar gyfer ceidwaid parc.

Mae gwaharddiad dros dro bellach wedi cael ei roi ar waith hyd nes bod cyflwr y ddaear yn llai sych.

Mae arwyddion wedi cael eu gosod o amgylch y parc ac mae gwybodaeth wedi cael ei rhannu ar wefan y Parc a sianeli cyfryngau cymdeithasol.

Caiff ymwelwyr eu hannog i ddod â phicnic a bwydydd sydd wedi’u coginio ymlaen llaw.

Dywedodd Ian Jones, Pennaeth Hamdden: “Nid ydym am ddifetha mwynhad neb yn y Parc ond mae’n rhaid i ni roi diogelwch yn gyntaf. Rydym wedi cynghori pobl yn y gorffennol i fod yn ofalus gyda barbeciws ac wrth waredu gwastraff, ond hyd nes y bydd yr amodau yn gwella rydym bellach yn gorfodi gwaharddiad.

“Gobeithio y bydd pobl yn deall ein rhesymau dros hyn ac yn parchu’r gwaharddiad.”
