Party to celebrate new Penlan Community Garden
Action for Children’s Swansea SAIL project in partnership with Mums with Passion, Penlan Methodist Church, Interplay, Step by Step and Swansea Best Start will be opening the new Penlan Community Garden at their annual community garden party at Penlan Methodist Church on Thursday 19th July between 12.30 and 4.30.
The new garden, funded by Swansea Grow Local, will be officially opened by 3 year-old Jackson of Penlan who will cut the ribbon at 1pm.
Alison, manager of Swansea SAIL said ‘We always have a garden party at this time of year but with the launch of the community garden we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to work in partnership with some of the other groups that use the Methodist church to provide an event for the whole community.
‘The garden will be open to all involved with the project and the church as well as the local community. Members of the gardening club have been working to get the garden ready and now have a thriving crop of veggies, some of which will be on sale at the garden party. We’re all delighted this great community resource will now open so a huge thank you to everyone who has made it happen.’
Families will be able to enjoy a barbecue, food stalls, cream teas and children’s activities during the garden party
