Childcare providers who service the area of Neath Port Talbot are set to benefit from a new Welsh Government childcare scheme.
The scheme, known as The Childcare Offer for Wales, provides 30 hours a week of funded early education and childcare for eligible working parents of 3 to 4 year olds, for up to 48 weeks of the year.
Childcare providers are being urged to register in time for the start of the scheme this September to ensure they are ready to accept and receive funding for children accessing the Offer.
Although the scheme is only initially available to parents living in selected pilot areas throughout Neath Port Talbot, parents can choose to place their child at any provider who is registered to The Childcare Offer for Wales. Providers are also being encouraged to register to the Offer early so they are ready for a further planned rollout of the scheme.
The benefits to providers include being added to a list of settings which will be advertised on the Council’s website, and receiving payments a month in advance for eligible childcare placements.
Councillor Peter Rees, cabinet member for education, skills and culture, said:
“I would encourage all childcare providers to register to the Offer and take full advantage of the possible benefits. This could be a great opportunity for providers to fill vacant places at their childcare setting or view it as a chance to grow their business.”

The Childcare Offer for Wales scheme is funded by Welsh Government and administered by Neath Port Talbot Council’s Childcare Offer Team.
