An incident saw a three car crash take place at approximately 10.15am this morning (August 1) in Gelli-Onn. The West Wales Chronicle have just left the scene at 12.20pm. A Black Vauxhall Corsa, Grey Renault CAPTUR and Grey Fiat 500 were stationary and involved in the accident. There was visible damage sustained to the sides, front and the rear of the Renault CAPTUR with subsequent damage also to the others.
Traffic was being redirected as a result onto Thomas Street and from the top of Gelli-Onn around to Old Road passed The Thomas Arms. Side streets were also affected. Four police vehicles were seen to be in attendance with six visible officers also. Recovery were on scene as The West Wales Chronicle left the incident.
Propreitor Claire Bunyan of local business Claire’s Flowers told The West Wales Chronicle:
“I was in the middle of serving a customer after 10am this morning when I heard a huge bang, it startled me. The female driver of the Vauxhall Corsa was in clear shock and there was a pit bull in the car with her. Also the male driver of the Fiat was in shock, I telephoned his wife. I’m glad everyone is ok. It was a nasty incident for all involved but could have been much worse.”
Another witness said:
“There have been issues over the years since the closure of Bridge Street in my personal opinion. Traffic flow is high in this area. I’m not saying that this has contributed to the accident today but Bridge Street being closed certainly doesn’t help the situation, there are often nasty accidents here.”
The West Wales Chronicle have been told that ambulance crew were in attendance as is mandatory and there were minor injuries as a result of the collision, nobody was seriously injured we’ve been told.
Dyfed-Powys Police have been contacted along with the ambulance service for an official comment.
