FEARLESS TALENT CONTEST IN SOUTH WALES NARROWED DOWN TO FINAL 3 _PUBLIC VOTE CLOSES MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY FOR TALENT CONTEST RUN BY CRIMESTOPPERS CHARITY’S YOUTH SERVICE FEARLESS _ A talent competition run by Fearless, the youth service of UK charity Crimestoppers, has been narrowed down to a final three, with the public vote closing on Sunday. The competition, titled FAME by Fearless, is for 11-16 year-old’s and is being run by Fearless.org across South Wales, following on from a similar contest run in 2016 that covered the whole of the UK. The 3 finalists are made up of two pianists and a singer who will be vying for a prize bundle worth up to £250. The competition has been running since May, and encouraged young people to upload short clips showcasing their skills to YouTube, whatever their talent. The Top 3 finalists that members of the public can vote for can be found at fearless.org/fame by fearless and their performances can be seen on the Fearless YouTube channel here [1]. The finalists are: · Dylan Watkins – Pianist who performs his version of the Turkish March · Mckenzie Thomas – Singer who takes on the classic ‘don’train on my parade’ from the hit musical Funny Girl · Laura Webb – Pianist who performs ‘Victor’s Solo’ from the Tim Burton’s classic The Corpse Bride Fearless was launched in Wales last year with the aim of engaging with and educating young people about the consequences of their choices around crime. The talent competition has been running alongside a campaign in Cardiff to encourage safe and anonymous reporting of knife crime – including speaking up about those who regularly carry weapons.The Fearless website allows young people to give information about crime 100% anonymously using a secure online form. ELLA RABAIOTTI, WALES REGIONAL MANAGER, SAID: “Running FAME by Fearless has been a great opportunity to engage positively with young people and ensure they know they have a service that doesn’t judge, but also gives them a voice to speak up about crime anonymously.
