Charity offers up to £2,000 for information on racially aggravated criminal damage incidents in Barry!

The charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £2,000 for information on two racially aggravated incidents that saw criminal damage carried out on the property of a 67-year-old woman.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday April 3 when, at just before 1am, the suspect has walked up to the victim’s property on Pontypridd Road in Barry and thrown a brick through her front window.

The brick was thrown with such force that the window has shattered, causing cuts to the head that required 12 stitches.

Two weeks later, on Tuesday April 17, an unknown person has walked up the driveway of the victim’s home and headed towards the CCTV camera with a baseball bat. The suspect then attempted to damage the CCTV camera. At just before 1am, two other suspects appeared and one male heads towards the living room window at the front of the property, smashing the window again.

Another suspect has remained on the footpath of the property and thrown a brick at a separate window causing it to smash. All three individuals have then made off on foot.

Crimestoppers is now offering the reward of up to £2,000 for information given to the charity that leads to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible.*

Ella Rabaiotti, Wales Manager for the charity Crimestoppers, said: “No-one should live in fear of attack because of their nationality, ethnicity or religious background. Your home is the one place you should be able to feel safe, and the fact that not one, but two racially aggravated incidents have occurred, is abhorrent.

“There have been other, more minor incidents that have targeted the victim, and I am now asking for your help to identify the people responsible.
