Views sought on three consultations

Local residentsand groupsare being asked to give their views on three consultations.

The consultation reports include Neath Port Talbot Council’s draft homelessness strategy for 2018 to 2022, its draft plan for adult social care for 2019 to 2022 and its draft plan for children and young people services for 2019 to 2022. Each report will undertake a set consultation period where local residents and other interested parties will be able to have their say.

The draft homelessness strategy sets out the Council’s proposals for preventing homelessness wherever possible and effectively supporting people when it occurs.

The draft plan for adult social care outlines the importance of people remaining independent in their own communities for as long as possible, placing greater emphasis on people’s strengths and ensuring early intervention is in place to prevent needs from escalating.

The draft plan for children and young people focuses on ensuring children are safe and living in families where they can achieve their full potential while having their health, well being and life chances improved.

All of the consultations reflect the increasing demand for Council services and pressures to make budget savings. The reports also reflect how the Council plans to utilise resources that are already available in the community to meet people’s needs.

Councillor Anthony Taylor, Deputy Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, said:

“The reports outline how the Council plans to deliver on each priority area up to 2022.

“We are keen to receive feedback from residents and other local groups and organisations on what people think of the proposals, how the proposals might affect people if they go ahead and any suggestions for alternative ways of doing things. It is important for the Council to be fully informed before making any final decisions.”

Comments on each consultation can be made online through the Council’s website,www.npt.gov.uk/haveyoursay. Printed copies of the consultation and feedback forms can be found at Neath Civic Centre and Port Talbot Civic Centre. Feedback can also be emailed directly to CCU@npt.gov.uk.
