Welsh workers keeping it cool as the least stressed region in the UK

LONDON, 14th August 2018  Workers in Wales are far less stressed than the rest of the UK according to research from HR and payroll specialist Moorepay.

Across the country, almost one in ten (9%) people say they suffer constant stress at work, however in Wales this figure drops to one in 20 workers (4%). The same applies when looking at employees who suffer from stress on an hourly basis or more  the national average stands at 14% whilst in Wales this figure is less than half at 6%.

In fact, almost one third (29%) of workers in Wales report that they never experience stress in the workplace  the most of any region in the UK. The UKs top three least stressed regions are:

                Wales 29%

                Scotland 26%

                Yorkshire 24%

The most stressful places to work, with employees experiencing stress on an hourly basis or more are:

West Midlands 19%

North East 17%

East Midlands 17%

Welsh businesses appear to be leading the way in combatting stress in the workplace. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are implementing costly or time intensive processes. Effective policies rely on simplicity and feedback, said Andrew Weir, Employer Services Manager at Moorepay.

The best way for companies to identify stress warning signs and provide help and support where its needed, is through data. This includes tracking absence, training opportunities and career progression. Doing so will have a positive impact on culture, productivity, and the bottom-line.
