August bank holiday bin changes
RESIDENTS are being reminded that there are changes to bin collections over the August bank holidays.
From Monday, August 27, until Friday, August 31, collections will take place one day later than usual. So for example, if your collection is due on Monday it won’t be picked up until Tuesday and so on.
These changes also affect garden waste and trade waste customers.
The recycling centres in Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford), Nantycaws (Carmarthen) and Whitland are all open as usual over the bank holidays.
All recycling centres are now operating summer opening hours, 8.30am-7pm.
To find out when your bins are being collected or for more information on recycling visit Carmarthenshire County Council’s website www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales
Cllr Hazel Evans, executive board member for environment, said: “Please remember to recycle using your blue bags. Items such as plastic bottles, food tins, aerosol cans, magazines and catalogues, plastic coat hangers and cardboard can all be recycled in the blue bag. Information and advice is available on the council’s website.
“In Carmarthenshire about a quarter of a typical black bag still contains food waste, and half of that is still in its packaging.
“Reduce your food waste and save money, visit the Love Food Hate Waste website for advice on avoiding food waste and using up leftovers.
“If you do have waste food such as teabags, bones, vegetable and fruit peelings or egg shells please put these in your food waste bin for a weekly collection where it will be treated and turned into soil conditioner.”
Casglu biniau dros wyl banc mis Awst
MAE trigolion yn cael eu hatgoffa y bydd newidiadau i’r casgliadau sbwriel/deunydd ailgylchu dros wyl banc mis Awst.
O ddydd Llun, 27 Awst tan ddydd Gwener, 31 Awst, bydd casgliadau’n digwydd un diwrnod yn hwyrach na’r arfer. Er enghraifft, os yw eich casgliad i fod ar ddydd Llun, ni fydd yn digwydd tan ddydd Mawrth ac yn y blaen.
Yn ogystal mae’r newidiadau hyn yn effeithio ar gwsmeriaid gwasanaeth gwastraff gardd a gwasanaeth gwastraff masnach y cyngor.
Bydd canolfannau ailgylchu Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Rhydaman), Nant-y-caws (Caerfyrddin) a Hendy-gwyn ar Daf i gyd ar agor fel arfer dros y gwyliau banc.
Bellach mae’r canolfannau ailgylchu i gyd yn gweithredu oriau agor yr haf sef 8.30am a 7pm.
I gael gwybod pryd y bydd eich biniau’n cael eu casglu neu i gael rhagor o wybodaeth ynghylch ailgylchu, ewch i wefan Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin www.sirgar.llyw.cymru
Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Hazel Evans, sef yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros yr Amgylchedd: “Cofiwch ailgylchu gan ddefnyddio eich bagiau glas. Gall eitemau fel poteli plastig, tuniau bwyd, caniau erosol, cylchgronau a chatalogau, cambrenni cotiau plastig a chardbord i gyd fynd i’r bagiau glas i’w hailgylchu. Mae gwybodaeth a chyngor ar gael ar wefan y cyngor.
“Yn Sir Gaerfyrddin, mae tua chwarter o fag du arferol yn dal i gynnwys gwastraff bwyd ac mae hanner o’r bwyd hwnnw yn dal yn ei ddeunydd pecynnu.
“Beth am leihau eich gwastraff bwyd ac arbed arian? Ewch i wefan Hoffi Bwyd, Casáu Gwastraff i gael cyngor ynghylch osgoi gwastraff bwyd a defnyddio sbarion bwyd.
“Os oes gennych wastraff bwyd fel bagiau te, esgyrn, pilion llysiau a ffrwythau neu fasgl wyau, cofiwch roi nhw yn eich bin gwastraff bwyd sy’n cael ei gasglu bob wythnos ac yn cael ei drin a’i droi’n gyflyrydd pridd.”
