Street Survey in Haverfordwest shows many want a People’s Vote (second referendum) on EU Membership

Pembrokeshire for Europe held a street stall on Saturday, 1 September in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest to ask passers by what they felt about Brexit and how it was going.

Passers by were asked their views on 5 statements about Brexit and to plot these on a Brexitometer chart. The five statements are: “Brexit is going well”; “Brexit is good for Wales”; “Brexit is good for the NHS”; “Brexit is good for jobs”; and “There should be a People’s Vote on the final deal”.

The response is recorded in the attached photograph. This shows that of those taking part, many did not consider Brexit was going well and supported our call for a People’s Vote (second referendum).

Alistair Cameron from Pembrokeshire for Europe said:

“We recognise this is not a representative sample of everyone’s views. However, it does show that a large body of people in Haverfordwest on a Saturday morningdo want a People’s Vote (second referendum) once our terms for leaving the EU have been negotiated.

“As a rural county reliant on farming, tourism and trade with Europe with strong links with Ireland, we believe Pembrokeshire’s interests are best served by remaining within the EU.

“We hope our local Members of Parliament will consider this strong level of support for a People’s Vote and vote for one in Parliament.”
