Schools across Wales, re-opening after the summer holiday this week, are being reminded of the Arts Council of Wales’ “Go and See” grant fund. This can provide grants to assist schools to attend quality arts performances, exhibitions or events.

In addition this autumn, there is a final opportunity to take advantage of another fund – the “Wales Remembers” fund – which assists schools to attend or participate in events that commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

Today, the Programme Manager, Bethan Millett:

“The ‘Go and See’ fund is an excellent scheme that enables schools, big and small, to attend quality arts events. This fund can provide grants of up to £1,000 and cover up to 90% of the costs associated with attending a concert, going to the theatre, an art gallery or a dance workshop, including travel costs.

“Indeed, the grant can go towards ticket costs, travel costs or the cost of attending a workshop with creative professionals, and while a new application has to be made for each individual visit, there is no limit on the number of times each year that a school can apply for a grant.”

Making reference to the grants available from the “Wales Remembers” fund, Bethan said:

“Another fund available for a little while yet, is the “Wales Remembers” fund which is there to assist schools to attend arts event, museums or exhibitions associated with the First World War – or to get someone to come along to their school to present a commemorative activity there.

“This year, we’re celebrating the centenary of the end of the Great War, so these grants will only be available for another few months.

“From this fund too, grants of up to £1,000 are available, but unlike the ‘Go and See’ fund, schools can only receive one ‘Wales Remembers’ grant. Nevertheless, it is worth teachers thinking at the start of this new term, whether they would like their pupils to undertake any arts activity associated with the First World War during this next term.”

Mae ysgolion led-led Cymru, sy’n ail-agor yr wythnos hon wedi gwyliau’r haf, yn cael eu hatgoffa o Gronfa “Ewch i Weld” Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru. Gall y  gronfa hon gynorthwyo ysgolion i fynd i fynychu perfformiadau, arddangosfeydd neu ddigwyddiadau celfyddydol o safon.

Yn ogystal yr hydref hwn, mae cyfle olaf i fanteisio ar gronfa arall – sef cronfa “Cymru yn Cofio” – sy’n cynorthwyo ysgolion i fynychu, neu gymryd rhan mewn digwyddiadau sy’n coffáu canrif ers y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf.

Heddiw, dywedodd Rheolwr y Cynllun, Bethan Millett:

“Mae’r gronfa ‘Ewch i Weld’ yn gynllun rhagorol sy’n galluogi ysgolion mawr a bach i fynychu digwyddiadau celfyddydol o safon. Gall y gronfa hon ddarparu grant o hyd at £1,000 a thalu hyd at 90% o gostau ymweliad â chyngerdd, theatr, oriel gelf neu stiwdio ddawns ar gyfer ysgolion, yn cynnwys costau teithio.

“Yn wir gall y grant fod ar gyfer costau tocynnau, costau teithio ynteu gostau mynychu gweithdy gydag unigolion creadigol proffesiynol, a thra bod rhaid gwneud cais am grant ar gyfer pob ymweliad yn unigol, does dim cyfyngiad ar y nifer o weithiau bob blwyddyn y gall ysgol gyflwyno cais am grant.”

Gan gyfeirio at y grantiau o gronfa “Cymru’n Cofio” dywedodd Bethan:

“Cronfa arall sydd ar gael am ychydig amser eto yw Cronfa “Cymru’n Cofio” sydd yno i gynorthwyo ysgolion i fynychu digwyddiad celfyddydol, amgueddfa neu arddangosfa sy’n gysylltiedig â’r Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf – neu gael rhywun i’r ysgol i gyflwyno gweithgareddau coffáu yno.

“Eleni, byddwn yn dathlu canrif ers diwedd Y Rhyfel Mawr,  felly dim ond am ychydig amser eto y bydd y grantiau hyn ar gael.

“Ar gyfer y gronfa hon hefyd, mae grantiau o hyd at £1,000 ar gael, ond yn wahanol i gronfa ‘Ewch i Weld’ dim ond unwaith y gall ysgol dderbyn grant ‘Cymru’n Cofio’. Eto i gyd, mae’n werth i ysgolion feddwl ar ddechrau’r tymor fel hyn, a oes yna rhyw weithgarwch yr hoffent ei gynnal yn gysylltiedig â’r Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf yn ystod y tymor nesaf hwn.”
