Detectives investigating the sudden death of a man in Penlan are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

South Wales Police were called to an incident near Penlan Rugby Club on Heol Gwyrosydd at around 1.30pm on Monday afternoon (September 3rd).

A 60-year-old local man died at the scene, and a 62-year-old man was subsequently arrested in connection with the death.

He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Andy Miles, of the Major Crime Investigations Team, said: “Our sympathies are with the family of the deceased, who are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact chain of events prior to the man’s death and we are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to assist with the investigation.

“We know there was an altercation prior to the deceased collapsing at the scene, and we know there were a lot of people in the area upon officers’ arrival. Anyone who does have any information, however insignificant it may seem, is urged to get in touch.”
