Cwmamman United Football Club Poem by Author Peter Davies

Under the Weather…….

Under the grey clouds they toiled away,
Mud covered warriors cast into the frey.
Handballs and bloodshed before the end,
A victory hard won by those who defend.

Sweat and boot leather caught in the rain,
The whistle then sounding ending the pain.
For a mug of hot cheer to calm the heart,
Or cold beer and hotdogs before they depart.

Curts and Allen their names on the sheet,
Written in history a Saturday made complete.
Handshakes and farewells the beaten depart,
Time is wasting let the celebrations start.

Under the weather such goals to reach,
Swear words that teachers never did teach.
Laughter and tears all together as one
A victory forgotten but a cup run begun.
