South Wales Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road this morning (Sunday, September 9th).
Officers were called to the scene at Cefn Coed, Merthyr Tydfil, after a grey Ford Mondeo was in collision with a man at approximately 6.10am.
The man was declared dead at the scene and his family are being supported by specialist officers.
The A465 was closed from Cefn to Dowlais Top for approximately four hours. Motorists are thanked for their patience during that time.
An investigation in to the circumstances of the collision is underway and officers would like to hear from anyone who travelled along the road between 5am and 6.10am, who may have seen the man involved in the collision, or who may have any information which could assist.
